5 Ways You Can Help Save the Planet

While some of the effects of climate change are irreversible, the good news is it is not too late to save the planet.

Governments, organizations, and corporations are the ones with the real power to slow climate change. But that doesn’t mean individuals do not have a collective power to make the world a greener place to live.

If everyone made small changes, it would make a huge difference. So, are you ready to make some changes in your life for the sake of the planet? Here are some things you can start doing today to help.

  1. Switch to a Vegan Diet

Yes, the dreaded “v” word. The simple truth is animal agriculture contributes around 18% of greenhouse gas emissions. If humans eat fewer animals and byproducts, farmers will not need to breed as many animals for food.

The more people that adopt a vegan diet, the better.

But going green does not need to be an all-or-nothing situation. Many omnivores say, ” I couldn’t switch to vegan, I love bacon too much.” So, why not cut out all animal products from your diet except for bacon?

You will still be reducing your meat and dairy intake by a significant amount.

  1. Invest in Solar Energy

To save the planet, everyone needs to switch to renewable energy sources as much as possible. One way you can do that as an individual is by installing solar panels with sparkchangesolar on the roof of your house.

One solar panel, on average, generates around 250 – 400 watts per hour. Your local solar companies will be able to give you a more accurate estimate for your city.

Using solar energy means you will also save money on your energy bills while you are saving the planet.

  1. Reduce and Recycle Your Waste

There are so many materials that you can recycle nowadays. Paper, cloth, cardboard, metals, glass, and some plastics are all recyclable. Whenever you no longer need one of these materials, dispose of it in a green, responsible way.

But reducing your waste is even better than recycling. Choose more sustainable materials over single-use plastic and unnecessary packaging. Avoid buying fast fashion and too much food.

  1. Conserve Water Usage

The average American family uses around 300 gallons of water a day. It takes energy to clean and distribute, so conserving water is a great way to save the planet.

Ensure you turn off your taps when you brush your teeth. Fill up the sink when you wash dishes instead of leaving the water running. Switch baths for shorter showers and try not to wash your hair every day.

Your hair does not need frequent washing, anyway, so you will improve your hair health, too. Win-win!

  1. Spread the Word

Everyone has at least one social media account these days. Follow trustworthy environmental accounts, like these:

  • WWF
  • Greta Thunberg
  • Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation
  • National Geographic

Then, when they share statistics and green campaigns, you will be able to repost and educate your followers on green issues, too.

Help Save the Planet Today

To save the planet, we all need to work together and we need to get to work today. Some of these green energy switches aren’t easy, but they will be 100% worth it in the end.
